Plug it into the OBD port
It plugs in within seconds, no tools or wiring. Most petrol cars from 2001 and diesel cars from 2004 have an OBD port.
Activate it and find it in the app
Choose your plan on Activate: monthly, every 3 months, yearly or 2 years. Activation usually takes 1 to 5 minutes and you don’t need to send us the IMEI. Then open the findCar app and see your car on the map.

Can I put a GPS tracker in my car?
Yes, you can fit a GPS tracker to your own car to protect it against theft. If other people drive it (family, employees), you must tell them. Tracking someone else’s car without their consent is not allowed. Companies that track employees’ vehicles must follow data protection rules.
What is an OBD GPS tracker?
A tracker that plugs into the car’s OBD port (the diagnostic socket, usually under the steering wheel) and takes power from it. No tools, no wiring: ready in seconds.
Is there a GPS tracker for cars without a monthly fee?
Yes, but then you need your own SIM card with a data plan, or a Bluetooth tag without GPS. findCar includes the SIM and data in the plan, so you don’t need a phone contract.
Does it work without mobile coverage?
To send its location in real time it needs mobile coverage. findCar uses several networks in each country, so coverage is wider than with a single carrier.
Does it drain the car battery?
Very little. When the car is parked the tracker goes into power-saving mode and stops transmitting (it shows as disconnected in the app, but keeps working). With the car parked, the battery lasts about 2 to 3 months with the tracker connected.
