How to install the findCar Tracker 4G
The findCar Tracker 4G connects to the vehicle battery (9–90 V) and stays hidden. It works for cars, vans, trucks and motorbikes. If you’re not confident with electrical work, have a garage install it.
Before you start
- The findCar Tracker 4G.
- Access to the vehicle battery or to a point with permanent power (9–90 V).
- Your phone with the findCar app installed.
- The IMEI: a 15-digit number starting with 86, with a barcode, on the tracker’s label and on the box label. Don’t confuse it with the label on the back of the box (FKSU… product code, it contains letters).
Wiring
| Red | Battery positive (+), 9–90 V, permanent power |
|---|---|
| Black | Ground / negative (−) |
It has a fuse. There’s no ignition (ACC) wire and none is needed: engine on and off alerts work without it.
Step by step
Choose where to hide it and place it face up
This is the most important thing for good GPS reception. In cars and vans, the grille area or the dashboard is best: in some vehicles the bonnet blocks the GPS signal. On motorbikes, avoid compartments with metal covers.
Connect the wires
Black to ground and red to the battery positive (or to a point with permanent power), with the fuse in place.
Check the lights
Lift the tracker’s top cover and check that the lights blink: it’s getting power and is properly connected. Put the cover back. If none blink, check the wiring and the fuse.
Activate your plan
On Activate choose monthly, quarterly, annual or 2 years and pay. If it’s your first purchase, you’ll get an email to create your password (the link expires in 24 h).
Log in to the app
With your email and password, or with Google (on iPhone also with Apple).
Add the device
In the app, “Add device”: scan the IMEI barcode with the camera (15 digits, starts with 86; it’s on the tracker and on the box) or type it, and give it a name.
Wait for the first position
With the vehicle outside, under open sky. It activates in 1 to 5 minutes and the first GPS position usually arrives in under 5, although it sometimes takes up to 15–20. Meanwhile the app shows that it’s waiting for the GPS signal.
Also for the findCar Tracker 2G: the steps and wiring are the same.
If it doesn’t work
It doesn’t turn on (no light blinks)
Check that the red wire goes to a positive with permanent power, the black one to ground, and that the fuse hasn’t blown.
No position, or a wrong one
Check that it’s face up and not under the bonnet or under a metal cover; move it to the grille or the dashboard.
It doesn’t show up after paying
Check that you’ve added it in the app (step 6). Paying and adding are two separate steps.
The app says the IMEI isn’t valid or the device disappears
Check that you used the IMEI (15 digits, starts with 86) and not the FKSU code on the label on the back of the box. If it persists, message us on WhatsApp.
It shows “disconnected” while the vehicle is parked
That’s power-saving mode: when the vehicle is stopped it stops transmitting and reconnects when it moves.
